For starters, look for sharpness and detail. As Ben notes, one of the primary misnomers about metal prints is that they aren’t sharp.<\/p>\n

However, the sharpness of a print depends on many factors, not the least of which is the printer. As I’ve seen in the sample print Ben sent me, metal prints can be ultra-sharp and detailed.<\/p>\n

Another feature to look for in a good metal print is the accuracy of the colors – does the print accurately represent the colors in the original image file?<\/p>\n

Construction, of course, is a major factor in setting high-quality metal prints apart from low-quality metal prints. As Ben discusses, looking at the edges of the print will give you a good idea of the print’s quality. Look specifically for edges that are extremely sharp or have chipping as indications of poor quality.<\/p>\n
